Biography

markuspesonenhendectet4051mvmMarkus Pesonen is a Finnish composer, guitarist, multimedia artist and teacher, investigating the impact of sound on people and the environment. “My work continues to be inspired by nature and the nature of reality.” He composes and creates with several music groups ranging from solo guitar with live electronics to his 11-piece ensemble Markus Pesonen Hendectet and from a string quartet to techno remix. Parallel to now 10 releases as a musician, Markus has also created the music for 13 dance and theatre pieces, and three films.

Markus has been performing and recording with artists such as: Django Bates, Palle Mikkelborg, Phil Minton, Tyshawn Sorey, Herb Robertson, John Tchicai, Elliott Sharp, Andrea Parkins, Axel Dörner, Johannes Bauer, Lotte Anker, Carsten Dahl, Norbotten Big Band and UMO.

Markus has performed and exhibited Europe, Americas and Asia in festivals and venues like: Royal Albert Hall,Gateshead International Jazz Festival, Museo de Arte Moderno Mexico City, Taipei Arts Festival, Banlieues Bleues, WeJazz Festival, New Directions Festival Luleå, Kulturhuset Stockholm,Victoria Nasjonal Jazzscene, Copenhagen Jazz Festival, Jazz Festival Willisau, Exploratorium Berlin, Radial System and Schaubühne.
